Christiansburg, VA – Delegate Dave Nutter, (R-7th) campaign for re-election to the General Assembly, was endorsed today by the National Rifle Association (NRA) The NRA is recognized as America’s foremost defender of the Second Amendment and the nation’s hunting traditions. The NRA has over 120,000 members in Virginia. Delegate Nutter received an "A+" and endorsed by the NRA for his consistent pro-Second Amendment votes in the General Assembly. "As a member of Virginia's General Assembly, I have worked to protect the rights granted to law abiding citizens in the Second Amendment to the Constitution," said Nutter. “The NRA is an organization comprised of tens of thousands of citizens, from all walks of life, across the New River Valley and indeed the state and nation who value their right to hunt and shoot. I am proud to have their endorsement.” In 2009, Nutter was the chief sponsor of a bill, HR 2144, restricting disclosure of the names and addresses of Virginia’s concealed carry permit holders. Nutter’s legislation makes the data collected for police purposes restricted for law enforcement personnel only and stopped the abuse of the concealed carry permit holders list. Dave Nutter is serving his fourth term as a member of the Virginia House of Delegates. First elected in 2001, he serves on the Committee on Health, Welfare and Institutions; Committee on Militia, Police and Public Safety; and the Committee on Science and Technology. In 2006 he was also appointed to the Joint Commission on Health Care, a joint committee composed of members of the House and Senate that looks at long term issues confronting health policy. |
